Hardcore for the hardcore; if you need to ask, you don’t need it.
Such a statement perfectly encapsulates CULTURE SHOCK, one of the foremost outfits of the Denver scene, who, despite their sporadic activity, shows us the self-evident nature of the genre and how time holds no impact over what is timeless. Hardcore in its purest sense does not reflect the present, but that of a certain eternal spirit—a message of honesty, bolstered by the energy and assertiveness of youth. To those who know, this is already understood.
In CULTURE SHOCK’s estimation, civilization is worn out and collapsing. They see society for what it is and have determined that it isn’t worth salvaging. All that is left is to walk among the ruins, existing on the outskirts of a harsh reality while the duped vast majority sleepwalk toward death.
This self-titled 4-song EP picks up from their 2017 album, delivering a feedback-drenched bombardment of blistering, anthemic hardcore led by unhinged vocalist Geoff D., backed by James Trejo on guitar, John Menchaca on bass, and Jake Hanson on drums. Recorded by James at his Bloodlust Studios and mixed and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios, the EP concludes with a cover of “V.A” by SS DECONTROL.
Features a black flood jacket with spine, card stock black flood inner sleeves, and white vinyl in an edition of 250.
